one track mind: 01/09/26
running really fast so you don't get hurt.
well well, i didn’t expect to be back on substack so soon after quitting instagram. the habit needs a release somehow~ at least if i’m on substack i am actually engaging with the platform, and using my brain to form complete sentences. etc etc.
♫⋆ track of the week:
“like a hurricane” ~ juiceboxxx (2012)
⋆˚𝜗𝜚˚⋆ the discovery of this song was all thanks to a 3am tinder conversation with a touring musician. i was working at a cocktail bar in london fields right by regents canal. sometimes after work i’d go for a smoke under one of the tiny canal bridges before embarking on my 40 minute bike ride home to amhurst park in stamford hill.
~it’s actually scary how many of those locations i just had to google, to make sure i remembered them correctly. when i left london to move to new york i recall actively deciding to erase my memories of england. this is a habit of mine, i’m embarrassed to admit.
i’ve never put this in writing before, but i do believe that that one tinder conversation changed the course of my sorry little london life, and traject me towards my silly little life in america. it was the first song i put on in my headphones when the plane took off. this is why i have this song tattooed across my sacrum, also because i’m stupid.
