i need to hear you talk about the things you love
it’s that time again! the weekly newsletter where i over-share on a song that changed my brain chemistry, along with some additional music news that i think is worth squawking about ☺︎
♫⋆ track of the week:
“of course i still love you” ~ dylan brady (2018)
⋆˚𝜗𝜚˚⋆ well, i haven’t actually seen/spoken to my dad since i was a teenager, and one of the last things he ever said to me was so disgusting it still makes my skin crawl when i think about it. so i don’t love this song in the way that it might resonate with others. i love this song for it’s textural bass slaps that grow into an angsty distortion as it progresses. the lyrics take me back into my teenage skin, inexperienced to the harsh realities that your own family is actually fully capable of causing you the most pain.
repeatability: 7/10
personal influence: 2/10
crush heartbreak induced revisit-ability: 6/10
i’ve been ruminating a lot on trust lately. and i’ve been trying to see what everyone else see’s in xaviersobased~ feel free to enlighten me if you feel passionately about it. idk, just nothing i have found sounds profoundly new to me. in other music news: congratulations to afroman for winning his case, a beautiful example of fighting hate with humour and whimsy. this fakemink interview really put a smile on my face, now THAT is someone carving out new sound, in my idiot opinion. speaking of uk rap, what the hell happened to ceechynaa??? also this nori track takes me right back to 2010, i like to imagine if a time-traveller dropped this version at the club and how my brain would spill out across the dancefloor. any song can use that g6 sample and it’s always going to be a certified banger.
spring is finally here! you know what that means. new season, new playlist. here’s a link to all the songs that caught a loop during this depressing winter. c’est la piss, see ya la’s.
